SUMMARY:Full Circle: An Observance of Black Dance and Culture
DESCRIPTION:DejaJoelle and Kenna Cottman unite to uplift Black dance in a joyous observance. This evening of dance acknowledges the sunset of the Body Prayers: for Artists program and the emergence of Explore Choreo North. Both of these Jerome Foundation-funded programs were designed to support Minnesota-based Black dancemakers working in Black forms. Join us for a mesmerizing night that honors the artistry\, creativity\, and skill of Minnesota’s own! \nBody Prayers: For Artists (BPFA) is a Poly-Realmic (RECLAIM\, SURRENDER\, CONJURE) practice that centralizes Black Dancers and utilizes Dance\, Healing\, Community collaboration\, and transmission of knowledge to guide Black Artists to their most powerful version of themselves and Artistic Voice. Explore Choreo North supports 3 career choreographers in non-mainstream dance forms who wish to deepen their practice\, learn from peers and/or merge into the concert lane. This opportunity is designed for dance artists with a connection to North Minneapolis. \nBe part of uplifting these Artists in an unforgettable FULL CIRCLE moment!
