Sacred Earth Date Update
Dear friends,
We’re writing with an important update to Ragamala’s upcoming home season performance of Sacred Earth at the Luminary Arts Center on Friday, May 1.
As you may know, a national day of strike and economic disruption is being organized for May 1, which is International Worker’s Day. We deeply respect and stand in solidarity with the movement and its call to reimagine systems that have long excluded and marginalized communities—including immigrant artists and cultural workers.
At the same time, canceling the performance is not financially viable for us. Instead, we have made the decision to move our May 1 performance to Thursday, April 30. Our May 2 performance and annual gala will remain as scheduled.
We know this is a moment when many are choosing how they want to show up for their communities, and we want to support that choice. By shifting the performance, we hope to ensure that those who wish to participate in the day’s events can do so fully—while still creating space for us to gather in community.
At its heart, Sacred Earth is about connection—between people, landscapes, and art forms,. We look forward to being together with you in that spirit.
If you already have tickets for May 1, they will be automatically transferred to April 30. If you are unable to join us on April 30, we hope you will consider your purchase as a donation to the company. If that is not possible, please reach out to the box office for a refund.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
With gratitude,
Aparna, Ranee, Ashwini, and the Ragamala dancers and staff
